Located in the heart of London, Benjamin Franklin House is the world’s only remaining home of Benjamin Franklin – scientist, diplomat, philosopher, inventor, Founding Father of the United States and more. The Grade I listed townhouse is the perfect place for pupils to be transported back to Georgian London. Guided by Polly Hewson – daughter of Franklin’s landlady - they are introduced to a very domestic setting – learning how to properly introduce themselves in a Georgian fashion and all about tea etiquette in the Parlour – while simultaneously gaining knowledge of what a momentous period this was in British and American history. Following in Franklin’s footsteps, pupils can get hands-on with some of his famous experiments as they investigate electricity, forces or sound. Led by an Education team with a passion for both history and science, a visit to Benjamin Franklin House is a memorable and engaging experience.
